It was a typical rainy afternoon in the quiet neighborhood, with sheets of rain pouring down and the streets nearly empty. John, a longtime mailman, was used to delivering letters through all kinds of weather. His trusty raincoat kept him mostly dry as he made his way from house to house, his boots splashing through puddles.
But then, as he rounded a corner, John spotted something unusual. A small, soaked puppy was curled up near a lamppost, shivering from the cold rain. The pup looked lost, scared, and completely alone, with no sign of an owner nearby.
Without a second thought, John knelt beside the puppy, shielding it from the relentless rain with his body. He spoke to it softly, hoping to calm the trembling animal. Gently, he took off his thick mailbag and tucked the tiny dog inside, offering warmth and safety.
