The sun barely peeked through the clouds as Ajk sat by the window, his usual energy subdued. Today was supposed to be his day, the day where he’d be the center of attention, the one everyone celebrated. But as the hours ticked by, the house remained quiet, and the phone stayed still. No calls, no messages, no surprises.
It was Ajk’s birthday, and no one had reached out.
He wandered through the house, his paws making soft sounds against the floor, hoping that maybe someone had just forgotten for a moment. Maybe a knock would come, or a present would appear out of nowhere. But nothing.
