As the day unfolded, however, Leo noticed something unusual. His family was busy with their daily routines, and there were no decorations, no balloons, not even a hint of a cake. He trotted from room to room, his little heart hopeful but slowly sinking as the hours passed.
By midday, Leo plopped down on the living room rug, looking out the window, his ears perked for the sound of a birthday chorus. Yet, all he heard was the distant hum of life outside. He sighed, feeling a mix of disappointment and confusion.
As the sun began to set, Leo’s family finally gathered in the living room. They called him over, and he bounded toward them, tail wagging in anticipation. To his surprise, they had brought out a special birthday treat—a giant cookie shaped like a bone!
“Happy Birthday, Leo!” they cheered, and suddenly, the room was filled with love and laughter. They showered him with pets, treats, and a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Leo realized then that while the day hadn’t gone as he imagined, it was still perfect because he was surrounded by the people who loved him most.
