Oli woke up on his birthday with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. Today was supposed to be all about him—a day for extra belly rubs, maybe a treat or two, and lots of love from his friends. But as the morning drifted into afternoon, Oli’s excitement began to fade.
No one had wished him “Happy Birthday.” The house felt quiet, and he hadn’t even seen his closest friends. He paced around, searching for signs of celebration, but the rooms were empty, and the backyard was still. He curled up in his bed, feeling a bit isolated and wondering if his special day had been forgotten.
Just when he thought he’d spend his birthday alone, Oli heard a soft scratching at the door. He looked up and saw Kean, one of his best friends, peeking in with a mischievous grin. “Oli! Come outside, quick!” Kean barked with excitement.
Curious but cautious, Oli followed him out into the backyard, where he was greeted with a heartwarming sight. There, under the shady trees, were his friends—Con, David, Casi, and even Meda—all wagging their tails, wearing little party hats, and gathered around a cake made of all of Oli’s favorite treats. “Surprise, Oli!” they shouted.
