Today is my birthday, a day still awaiting its blessings. den

As the sun rose over the quiet village, a soft breeze carried the whispers of morning. In a little house by the edge of the woods, Millie woke up with a flutter in her heart. It was her birthday.

She padded to the kitchen, her slippers brushing against the floor. Her favorite cake sat untouched on the counter, candles unlit. A single card lay propped against it. Her parents had left early for work, and her friends hadn’t called yet.

“It’s just another day,” she muttered, but her chest tightened. Birthdays were supposed to feel special. Millie stepped outside, hoping for solace in the garden’s gentle rustle.

That’s when she saw it—a small bird, chirping nervously as its tiny leg was caught in the netting of the fence. Millie’s sadness evaporated as she rushed to help. With careful hands, she freed the bird, its wings fluttering gratefully before it soared into the sky.

A warm feeling spread through her. She smiled, realizing that even without a party or gifts, the day wasn’t empty. It had given her a chance to make a difference, and that, she decided, was a blessing all its own.
