She looked around the house, expecting to see balloons, maybe a party hat. But the house was still, and everyone went about their day as if nothing was different.
By the afternoon, Sui sat quietly in her favorite corner, her once-bright eyes now dimmed with disappointment. She had imagined laughter, presents, and maybe even some extra cuddles.
