Today is a special day – my dog just turned one year old. But instead of the usual excitement that comes with a birthday, thereās a deep sadness in his eyes. Heās been waiting all day, hoping someone would notice, hoping someone would say, āHappy Birthday!ā But the day has been quiet, and his tail, usually wagging with joy, barely moves.
I can see the confusion in his eyes, the question lingering in his heart: Why hasnāt anyone celebrated with him? He doesnāt understand that the world can be busy and distracted. All he knows is that today was supposed to be special, but it feels just like any other day.
Heās just a little dog, full of love and life, and all he wanted was a little bit of that love returned today. As he curls up in his bed, I canāt help but feel a pang of guilt. I know I need to make it up to him, to show him that heās loved, not just today, but every day.
So, Iām planning something specialāa late birthday surprise. Because even if the day didnāt start out the way he hoped, I want to make sure it ends with a wagging tail and a happy heart. He may not understand why today felt different, but Iāll make sure he knows heās loved, every single day.
