A few years ago, Oliver and Friends Farm Rescue helped a puppy named Milo, who was born with upside-down paws. After a complex surgery, Milo made a full recovery and now leads a happy life. Today, they face a similar case with Mila, a 7-week-old Pug born with bilateral luxated elbows—a rare condition that severely affects her legs’ alignment.
Mila was rescued by Skiatook Paws and Claws and transferred to Oliver and Friends Farm Rescue due to the severity of her condition. Like Milo, Mila cannot walk or play normally, as her paws often point sideways or upwards, making movement painful and difficult.
The rescue team is determined to help Mila live a normal life. Her treatment began with a CT scan, and a 3D model of her legs was made to carefully plan her surgery. The procedure will involve using external fixators and rubber bands to align her bones without fusing her elbows, giving her the best chance to regain mobility.
Milo’s successful surgery provides hope for Mila, although her case is expected to require less intensive post-op care. The rescue team remains optimistic that Mila will recover and enjoy a healthy, happy life.
To support Mila’s surgery and ongoing medical needs, Oliver and Friends Farm Rescue is seeking donations from the community. By contributing, you can help Mila and other dogs like her receive the care they need to overcome their challenges.
Mila’s journey is a testament to the life-changing work done by rescue organizations, offering a second chance to animals in need.
