Today was a special day—it was Esa’s birthday! The little puppy bounced around the living room, her tail wagging furiously. She had been waiting for this day, her big brown eyes sparkling with anticipation. But as the hours passed, Esa noticed something was amiss. Her humans seemed busy, and the house felt quiet.
Esa tilted her head, wondering why no one had mentioned her special day. She trotted over to her favorite toy, a squeaky bone, and nudged it with her nose. Maybe a game of fetch would cheer everyone up! She picked it up and dropped it at her human’s feet, but they were too engrossed in their phones to notice.
Feeling a little sad, Esa decided to take matters into her own paws. She ventured into the backyard, where the sun was shining brightly. As she played in the grass, chasing butterflies and barking at the rustling leaves, she couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was missing.
Just then, her human walked outside with a puzzled expression. “Esa, what are you doing?” they asked, smiling at her playful antics. Esa wagged her tail, trying to convey her excitement.
