A Quiet Birthday: Reflecting on Unspoken Feelings
Today is my birthday, a day usually filled with excitement and warm wishes from friends and loved ones. Yet, as the day unfolds, thereโs an undeniable sense of sadness that lingers. No messages have come through, no calls have been madeโit’s as if the day has passed unnoticed.
Birthdays are moments we often look forward to, hoping for recognition and celebration from those we care about. We imagine the joy of being remembered and the happiness of receiving heartfelt greetings. But when those wishes donโt arrive, it can leave us feeling overlooked and forgotten.
It’s easy to let these quiet moments amplify our insecurities and doubts. The absence of birthday wishes makes me question whether I am valued or if Iโve simply been forgotten.
However, as I sit with these feelings, I am reminded that our worth isnโt defined by the number of greetings we receive. Birthdays are about celebrating ourselves, our journey, and the growth weโve experienced over the past year.
While today may not have gone as I had hoped, I choose to focus on the positives.
