What happens in the video:
An elderly man eats soup in a diner, then checks his wallet with a troubled expression. A woman speaks to him, followed by a younger man in a dark jacket. The younger man takes out money and places it on the table.
Extended story:
George knew exactly how much money he had brought.
What he hadn’t noticed was that the diner had changed its prices.
When the bill arrived, he counted his notes twice. Then he quietly asked the waitress whether he could return the following morning with the difference.
A young customer overheard.
“I’ll get it.”
George immediately shook his head.
“I can pay my own way.”
“I believe you,” the stranger said. “Let me buy you dinner anyway.”
Something in that answer allowed George to accept without lowering his eyes.
They talked while the soup cooled. George discovered that the young man had recently moved to town and knew nobody.
“Can you play chess?”
“Badly.”
“Then you’ll fit right in.”
The following Tuesday, the stranger arrived at the community hall. George had saved him a chair.
The meal cost only a few pounds. What followed gave both men somewhere to be each week.
