What happens in the video:
An elderly man in worn clothing stands inside a busy restaurant, holding a yellowish envelope. A white-shirted employee confronts him and appears to hold his arm while diners watch. Another employee wearing a dark waistcoat approaches before the clip ends.
Extended story:
Arthur had walked across town to deliver the envelope. Being turned away now felt harder than the journey.
“It’s for Daniel,” he repeated.
The waiter in the waistcoat stopped.
“That’s me.”
Inside was a photograph of Daniel’s late father standing beside a much younger Arthur outside a small restaurant.
“We opened our first place together,” Arthur explained. “Before we argued. Before I became too proud to telephone.”
Daniel turned the photograph over. On the back was his father’s handwriting: Arthur always made sure nobody left hungry.
The manager released Arthur’s arm.
Daniel pulled out a chair.
“My father used to talk about you.”
Arthur looked frightened. “What did he say?”
“That he wished you’d come for dinner.”
Daniel went into the kitchen and returned with two plates.
Arthur couldn’t have the conversation he had postponed for so many years. But across the table sat someone who still wanted to hear his side of the story.
