Lord Charles was not a traditional billionaire who sat in pristine boardrooms wearing tailored Italian suits. He was a mechanical genius who had built his vast shipping empire from scratch. To him, true luxury wasn’t about looking wealthy; it was about the thrill of creation. He had spent the last forty-eight hours straight in the grease-choked engine room of a nearby freighter, personally fixing a faulty turbine that his engineers couldn’t figure out. Covered in sweat, grime, and oil stains, he finally stepped onto the Monaco dock to get a breath of fresh evening air.
The captain of a nearby luxury vessel looked out from his pristine deck, his uniform perfectly pressed, and immediately sneered at the dirty, bearded man leaning against a mooring post. He raised his walkie-talkie to his lips, his voice dripping with authority.
“Security, remove the vagabond loitering on C Dock before he becomes a nuisance to our elite guests.”
Charles didn’t even flinch. He was used to small-minded people judging by appearances. Before any security guard could approach, the heavy glass doors of the marina’s VIP lounge flew open. Evelyn, the chief operating officer of the entire harbor district, rushed down the gangway, her diamond necklace catching the light. She bowed deeply, her face radiant with a mix of awe and relief.
“Comte Charles, we had no idea you were in Monaco waters. Your custom-built 300-foot superyacht, Sea Empress, is standing by for your review.”
Charles looked away from the water, a slow, knowing smirk spreading across his bearded face. He glanced back at the captain, whose jaw had completely dropped, the radio frozen in his hand.
